The Metropolitan Golf Association is an allied golf association of the USGA, conducting tournaments, clinics, and other events throughout the Met Area.
I started at the MGA as an intern in 2024 and in 2025, was hired full time as a communications coordinator. Since then, I’ve learned so much about photography. While my responsibilities mainly lie in video and production, I have had the opportuniity to assist with photography.
Feel free to look through the slideshows of my photography at each event and read a brief description on the event.
The Farrell
Held every year at the Stanwich Club, mid-amateurs come from all over the United States to compete in this marquee event. While a new tournament, it has quickly made a name for itself as one of the toughest and elite mid-amateur fields.
MGACSF Pro-Am
Like Day of Golf, the MGACSF Pro-Am is a charitable event held to raise money for the Caddie Scholarship Fund, a foundation which awards scholarships to eligible students in service to golf. This year, it was held at the premier Sleepy Hollow Country Club in New York. With views overlooking the Hudson River, it provides picturesque scenery, perfect for golf and photography.
Met Open
The Met Open is the biggest tournament the MGA holds. Hundreds of players attempt to qualify while only 140 secure their spot. This year, it was held at Meadow Brook Club on Long Island. While I am usually assigned to video, I had the opportunity to take some photographs of players at the first tee. It was also my first time using a longer lens, up to 500 mm. This allowed me to grab candid shots of players and spectators, which is always fun to do.
Met Amateur
The Met Amateur is one of the oldest amateur tournaments in golf. A four day stroke and match play tournament held at one of the Met Area’s premier courses. Last year, it was held at Old Oaks Country Club in New York. As is with New England, weather can be a bit of an issue, even during the peak summer season. Luckily, we were able to continue with the tournament and I was able to get some shots on the course.
Ike Championship
The Ike Championship is one of our “Met Majors” (alongside the Met Amateur and Met Open) where some of the best Met Area golfers come to compete in a two day stroke play tournament. In 2025, it was held at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in New Jersey. After 36 holes, a playoff was held to determine the winner. Some of my favorite shots come from this tournament.
Berkeley Cup
The Berkeley Cup is an annual fundraising tournament where caddies from different Eastern Long Island country clubs compete against each other. The event is held in honor of Michael J. Berkeley and run by his wife, Lourdes Berkeley.
2024 Photography
In 2024, I started as an intern at the Metropolitan Golf Association. Although my photography experience was limited, I learned a lot in a few short months by taking as many photographs as I could and learning from my peers and coworkers. Through this, I also started to find my creative eye and began to appreciate photography more.
