Which Olympic basketball team does Team USA need to watch out for?

When thinking about dominant basketball squads on the international scale, the first country that comes to mind has to be the United States. The U.S. basketball team has brought home the gold medal in the past four Olympics. In fact, the U.S. has won 16 of the 19 Olympics they’ve appeared in. It’s no secret why or how they’ve won. American players make up a majority of the NBA and such careful cultivation of a “dream team” allows Team USA to come out on top.
nnnnHowever, the NBA has also seen a surge in international players in recent years. Players born outside the U.S. or who have ties to international countries make up 23.5% of the NBA.

From coast to coast, what climate change means for vulnerable populations

Northern Central California is currently under a winter storm warning. Reports state that California has had over six feet of snow and wind gusts up to 70 mph. While California has seen snow in the past, especially in the mountains, what’s different now is the amount of snow.
nnnnIt also raises questions and concerns about how communities and vulnerable populations will deal with the weather. It has also opened a conversation about future adaptation to extreme weather.
nnnn nRookie Recap
I co- and hosted four episodes of Rookie Recap, a show published by UCTV Sports on YouTube. In each episode, I discussed 15 players that were drafted into the 2023 NBA Draft.
nnnnIn preparation for the episode, I spent roughly three hours researching references, watching game footage, and analyzing statistics for each 15 players.
nnnnIn post-production, I also created thumbnails, graphics for each player which highlighted their statistics, and added game footage for a more engaging video. I also edited the video and fixed the audio and color correction, if needed.
nnnnThese players had only played in the NBA or the G League or around six months at this point, so I had to keep in mind that I couldn’t over analyze their play or career. I had to be fair for each player and be sensitive if a player went through a season-ending injury.
nnnnAnother challenge I faced was trying to keep each player to less than one minute. Some players had a great first season and lots of news to cover. That is why the first episode is a little longer than the other ones.

Rookie Recap: Episode One
Published on Feb. 2, 2024
As host, I spoke about the first 15 players selected in the 2023 NBA Draft. I analyzed the rookie season of first overall pick, Victor Wembanyama, to UConn’s very own, Jordan Hawkins.

Rookie Recap: Episode Two
Published on Feb. 9, 2024
I co-hosted this video and we went back and forth speaking about picks 16-30 such as Jaime Jaquez Jr. to Kobe Brown.

Rookie Recap: Episode Three
Published on Feb. 16, 2024
This is where research began to get a bit more difficult. Second round picks don’t often play in the NBA as much or are on a two-way contract with the G League. I strove to not sound repetitive and look for unique ways a player stands out in their game.

Rookie Recap: Episode Four

In this last episode, I had a much easier time doing research and knew to use websites such as ESPN, Basketball Reference, NBA, and the G League website as well as highlights on YouTube.

nnnnWomen’s Basketball defeats Kutztown in exhibition game
Published on Nov. 6, 2022
nnnnAlthough an exhibition game, UCTV Sports tries to film every men’s and women’s basketball game as we understand the popularity of the sport at UConn.
nnnnI was tasked with filming and editing the video, while my colleague had to recap the game. We arrived at the XL Center two hours prior to the game so we could get good spots on the court and in the press room.
nnnnWe also filmed “stand-up videos” which include getting vertical video content for social media. These include interviews from the fans in the audience, any exciting on court plays, and or reactions from players that might stand out to a fan.
nnnnOnce the game ended, we stayed to record the post-game press conference and any finishing touches for the video.
nnnnThe video received over 10,000 views and 100 likes.

Men’s Basketball soars past Marquette
Published on Feb. 8, 2022
I was tasked with filming and editing this video.
nnnnThe men’s basketball team was on a losing streak, so the outcome of the game was questionable. However, the Huskies proved their ability to fight back.
nnnnOne of the most notable aspects of the game was the crowd’s reaction. Once the Huskies began showing their dominance, I took every opportunity to film bench, coach, and crowd to show the atmosphere of the game.
nnnnMy colleague and I stayed after the game to film the post-game press conference and the stand-up recap of the game.
nnnnBecause it was such an exciting game, we got back to the studio to edit right away and published it early the next day.

Men’s Soccer loses to Georgetown
Published on Nov. 3, 2022
I was tasked with filming and editing this video.
nnnnIn the first half, I set up my camera in the stands, but in the second half I was allowed to move to the pitch. Doing this helps to try new angles and provide more diversity to the video.
nnnnUnfortunately the Huskies lost this game. It is always difficult reporting on losses for the reporter and the videographer. In this case, we weren’t allowed to get interviews with the coach or the players. However, since it was senior night, we had a lot of material to work with.
