Photography

On this page, you can view my photography work. Starting in 2024, I began to take photography more seriously as an outlet for creativity and journalism.

These photographs are featured on my website for a number of reasons. I believe they are technically correct in terms of focus, color, white balance, and composition. However, they also show my artistic expression when it comes to photographs.

Photography is all about capturing the moment– the good and the bad. However, as a photographer, I also aspire to capture the ‘behind the scenes’ moments– from spectators and animals on a golf course to my more creative projects.

On this page you will be able to see photos I have taken at the Metropolitan Golf Association and creative projects I’ve worked on for school or my summer photography course.

At the Metropolitan Golf Association, I’ve had the opportunity to hone in on both my technical and artistic skills. Instead of categorizing photographs based on the type of photo, I categorized based on event.

Metropolitan Golf Association

Met Open, 2024

The Met Open is one of the MGA’s major tournaments. This year, it was held at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, Connecticut. The three day event hosted over 140 players. While I was assigned to video, I had the opportunity to take some photographs of players on the course. Even when my main focus of the day isn’t photography, I try to use moments in between to take some photographs of what is happening on the course. For this event, I used a Nikon D300 with a 18mm to 300mm lens.

Carter Cup, 2024

The Carter Cup is a junior invitational tournament. In 2024, it was hosted at Winged Foot Country Club in Westchester, New York. I gathered photographs that were, again, technically correct but also showed my creative style when it comes to sports photography. I used both a Canon Rebel T8i with a 75mm to 300mm lens.

MGA Boys, 2024

The MGA Boys tournament is an event hosted for players under 16. I had the opportunity to take photographs for this tournament. It was hosted at White Beeches Golf and Country Club in New Jersey. Again, they show my creative and technical skills.

Creative Projects

Ping Pong

As mentioned, in 2024 I took a quick photography course in New York to develop a string understanding of the basics. For our final project, our professor asked us to photograph something we were passionate about.

I’ve longed admired sports photography and wanted to try that for this project. I photographed a ping pong game with various elements that we learned throughout the class.

I used shadow to my advantage as it added another element to the picture. For some pictures, I retouched saturation and exposure in Lightroom.

For each photograph, I captioned what element of photography I had to use. I used flash, freezing in action, motion blur, and light painting.

Nobska Lighthouse and Cape Cod

While visiting Cape Cod, I decided to take my camera with me to work on my landscape and nature photography.

Below are photographs of Nobska Lighthouse and Old Silver Beach. I visited Nobska Lighthouse when it was foggy and gloomy, so the lighting was perfect for this landscape.

Old Silver Beach is located in North Falmouth, Mass. I was able to capture a pink, orange, and blue sunset that contrasted with the blue water. As well as a bird sitting on a stair rail on a sunny day.

UConn Fire Department

These photographs were taken for my advanced journalsim writing course. Our assignment was to write about anything newsworthy, so I wrote about the “behind the scenes” of the fire department, police department, custodial teams, and maintenence at UConn to prepare for game day.

Below are photographs I took of the fire department at UConn. I contacted them to ask if it would be okay to take photographs for my story and they accepted. I spent an hour taking pictures from different angles and of different equipment.
